E. caballus: The Domesticated Horse

E. caballus: The Domesticated Horse will be running from January 6 - February 27, 2022 at the Griffin Museum of Photography. The museum, open since 1992, aims to promote an appreciation and inspiration for photography as an artistry. Containing four gallery spaces, E. caballus: The Domesticated Horse will be held in the Griffin Main Gallery. The exhibition celebrates what we know today as the domesticated horse.
Blazing Editions was happy to partner with photographer Susan Irene in producing her fine art prints for E. caballus: The Domesticated Horse. Susan has traveled to different countries such as Canada, France, and Portugal to capture the beauty and movement of the horse. The title Susan has chosen for her prints is Power - Dance with Beauty, Play with Abandon, Be Loved. Her photographs will explore the elegance and sensitivity of these large, majestic animals.
The Boston Globe published their review of E. caballus: The Domesticated Horse on January 12, 2022, calling the exhibition “highly inventive.” They gave Susan Irene’s section notable recognition and featured her photograph titled “Peeking.” You can read the review here.
About The Artist
Susan Irene Correia is an equine photographer from the Seacoast New Hampshire area. Her work reflects her knowledge of a horse’s movement, their expressions, and the joy in the human relationship with these beautiful animals. Her lifetime love and personal experiences with horses has created her devotion to capturing the spirit of the horse in her photography.
Susan Irene attended Northern Vermont University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree. She has spent most of her professional career as a Corporate Compliance manager in the Financial Services Industry while juggling equine photojournalism and private photography work. She recently left the compliance industry to focus on her photography artistry.
Her equine travels have taken her to Canada, Portugal, France, and some of the best equine venues in this country. She continues to develop her skills through mentorships from several master photographers including some of the top international equine photographers.
She has received international, national, and local awards for her work including placing in the International Equine Photography Competition - “Horse and Human Relationship Division” and achieving the American Horse Publications Annual Photojournalism Award for her feature and photographs on the Boston Police Mounted Horses. Her other recent accomplishments included “Best in Show” - "Black and White, Shades of Gray Juried Show" at Main Street Art Gallery, Newfields, NH as well as placings in other juried public exhibits in the Seacoast area.
Her first solo exhibit will be at Griffin Museum where her body of work “Power – Dance with Beauty, Play with Abandon, Be Loved” will be presented at the E. caballus show opening on January 6th, 2022.
