Peter Mendelson
Peter Mendelson is an artist based in NYC and Connecticut who specializes in fine art photography. Initially inspired by the New American Color School of the 1970s and the work of British photographer Martin Parr, for the last twenty years, Peter has been documenting everyday cultural artifacts from Maine to Miami in his unique photographic style.
With an anthropologist’s interest in the theme of modern leisure, an eye for architectural detail, and a long-term affinity for the New England coastline, much of Peter’s work centers on littoral pastimes and waterfront architecture. An extended childhood stay in Italy also exposed Peter to the classical craft of composition and the Italian way of life. He has returned to the country several times, indulging his photographic fascination with nautical and recreational themes.
The result is an extensive body of fine art photography, produced both in the US and abroad, that Peter now makes available to the public as large-format photographic prints.
Peter’s work has been the subject of numerous gallery shows. His strikingly composed and boldly colored fine art photography prints can be found in private photography enthusiasts’ and professional collectors' collections. Furthermore, Peter’s photography has been featured in many publications spanning the art, design, travel, and style sectors.
