Kimerlee Kuryl

Kimerlee currently resides in Santa Ynez, CA with her two horses, Sequoia, a painted mare, and a wild mustang named el Regalo. Curyl is a mostly self taught photographer whose work reflects passion and purpose fused environmental consciousness. She has always loved everything about horses and being on both sides of the camera she has naturally captured the emotions that these majestic creatures possess. She has been capturing the remaining American wild horses since 2004 and is an involved activist in preserving the wild horses' land:

“Wild Mustangs. Without them the great west was not possible. We traveled, explored and built this land by holding onto their manes and riding the spirit of their hearts. We can honor that gift by being their voice. These beautiful legends, magnificent symbols of freedom and grace are being shipped for their homes, families torn apart and an icon will soon be lost forever. It is my hope to not only celebrate the beauty and magnificence of the creatures but to help them. The are a living breathing history museum, a vital element in our heritage, to our eco-sysytem and to our humanity. To lose them would be a tragically irresponsible disrespect to our past, present and future.”
ART...has a voice ~ Kimerlee Curyl

Kimerlee is represented by one of the largest fine art publishers in the country, distinguished in galleries nationwide, internationally, and acquired in celebrity collections. Her photographs have also been used on many accounts for advertising campaigns and product branding. She has become one of the voices to help save the wild horse population, which is decreasing due to rounding up and taking land.

Curyl has recently showed at the Brian Bowen Smith Gallery. "Stay Wild" was curated by Shea Bowen Smith. She was thrilled to showcase Curyl in conjunction with the nonprofit American Wild Horse Campaign (AWCH). Her work brings awareness to issues that others may not realize hold immense importance towards protecting the sacred land of these creatures.
