Whales In The Park

Whales in the Park

Chatham, MA

About Exhibition

This summer, go to Kate Gould Park to experience the vibrant Chatham Art in the Park! This year’s event showcases an array of decorated whale cutouts, continuing the tradition that began in 2013 with Sharks in the Park and has since featured mermaids, the shape of Cape Cod, and now, for several years, whales.

Blazing Editions is proud to have collaborated with Kristen Anderson & Allie Richards in this annual celebration of art and creativity. We assisted in fabricating two custom-cut whale sculptures, expertly crafted from dye-sublimated aluminum. Starting as Versatex cutouts provided by Stello Construction, these unique pieces were transformed by local artists into extraordinary works of art, each featuring creative and unique designs.

Visitors to the Park can look forward to seeing various imaginative whale designs, including themes such as oyster shells, sailboats, sunflowers, stained glass, lighthouses, abstract patterns, and much more. Stroll through the rows of whales and immerse yourself in the creativity and fun of the event. Each piece is a testament to our community's artistic talent and innovative spirit.

In addition to viewing the artwork, visitors can bid on their favorite whale sculptures. The bidding lasts until August 19th, offering a chance to take home a piece of this memorable event. Proceeds from the auction benefit the Chatham Merchants Association, part of the Chamber of Commerce, which supports local businesses and community initiatives.

This event is more than just an art exhibit; it celebrates community. Each whale is sponsored by a business or local organization and decorated by skilled local artists, reflecting the charm and scenery of Cape Cod. The sculptures will be displayed from June 23rd to August 18th, showcasing our community’s creativity and spirit. The proceeds are shared equally between the artists and the Chatham Merchants Association, which reinvests in making Chatham a delightful place to live, work, visit, and enjoy.

Last year’s auction was a tremendous success, raising a record-breaking $82,000. This achievement underscores the community’s strong support and involvement in this annual event.
