About

Susan Auriemma

Susan Auriemma, a native Rhode Islander and occasional New Yorker, picked up her first Nikon in 1996 when her first child was born and hasn’t put it down since. Photography quickly became a serious hobby, with a focus on equestrian events and motorsports. However, it wasn’t until Susan’s mother, Sylvia Hampton, asked her to go on a landscape photography trip to Ireland in 2016 that she truly connected with her camera as an artist. Inspired by her mother, who has been a photographer since her 20s, Susan has traveled extensively since that first adventure, expanding her skills and repertoire, and honing her personal style.

In 2024, Susan and her mother were invited to share their photography in a mother-daughter exhibit entitled “Echoes of Light” at Cusp Gallery in Newport, RI. Susan’s work in this exhibit employs softened textures and pastel colors to evoke a sense of calm. Growing up steps from the ocean, Susan has an intuitive connection to the soothing effects of waves, both in sight and sound, which foster a sense of ease. Through her fine art pieces, she brings this tranquility into the home.
