About
Started in 1986 by co-founders Art & Fatima NeJame, the Palm Beach Photographic Centre is recognized as a world-class arts organization. Created as a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts resource, PBPC is dedicated to the community and life enrichment through the photographic arts. Featuring a school, shop, and museum, the Centre brings the best in photography & digital media and has endured for 30 years in Palm Beach County.
The Palm Beach Photographic Centre school offers over 300 photography and digital imaging workshops with world-renowned photographers and digital imaging artists such as Vincent Versace, Laurence Gartel, Lewis Kemper, Joyce Tenneson, John Reuter, and many others. With two state-of-the-art digital MAC labs, multiple class rooms and a large photography studio space, the Centre offers classes at every level of your development ~ from the beginner to the professional.
The Centre also leads educational workshops abroad. Visiting various countries like Cuba, Peru, Burma, Bhutan, and Vietnam allows students to become immersed in the culture while learning technical and creative skills from world-class photographers.
The museum provides a showcase for photographic exhibits from some of the luminaries in the photography world, offered to the public entirely by donation. Past exhibits range in theme from “Triple Play – Fifty Years of Sports Illustrated” by Walter Looss, Jr. to National Geographic‘s “Women of Vision,” featuring twelve of the most inspiring female photographers. Each year, thousands come through our doors to gain perspective and insight into our world in a way only photography can provide.
The Pro Shop, “aka Candy Shop,” is the perfect place to get expert advice on brand names like Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Leica. Carrying a wide array of professional equipment, it is a local one-stop shop that provides all your camera needs.
PBPC believes in investing in our community. Through our community outreach program, “Picture My World”, at-risk youth are partnered with a photographic mentor to develop skills through photography and journaling. Since its inception in 1997, the PMW program has helped hundreds of teens in Palm Beach County lead productive lives, genuinely illustrating the transformative power of the arts.
