Justin Freed: Forests Come to Life
“A show about reverence, awe and healing, it reveals Freed’s lifetime preoccupations with water and trees.”
Blazing Editions is proud to have assisted artist Justin Freed in his recent solo show, Sacred Tree Habitat, at Galatea Fine Art in Boston. His exquisite photographs of trees from across the eastern seaboard express sheer power, form and splendor. Commanding images captured by Freed invite individuals to experience the multitude of sensations in which forests and trees radiate. The gallery space has been transformed, utilizing a variety of display methods including large-scale metal photographs, videos, digital images, hanging screens and music. Elements of technology and nature are thus blended, heightening one’s senses to another dimension. When combined, aspects of the organic and the contemporary totally engulf visitors in a transcendent yet artistic engagement. Freed is drawn to the story of trees and their life cycles, which he believes mirror our own human experience on earth. After this walk in the woods, Freed wishes the viewer to feel as intertwined with nature as the roots of trees do to the ground. Wandering through this 'forest' is a must!
