About

Photography is a world of light and color; when you add texture, it is a world Allyson has loved since childhood.

Growing up in the suburbs of New York brought the city to her fingertips. People, lights, sound, and movement always fascinated Allyson.  The pace and energy of metropolitan worldwide towns remain one of her favorite subjects.  Her work reflects the water and nature that were part of youthful summer memories spent on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. You might say her work has been evolving forever.

She attended the University of Rhode Island, majoring in textiles, merchandise, and design. This program allowed her to study Interior Design at The Studio Arts Center International in Florence, Italy, through the Cleveland Institute of Art.  In Florence, she was assigned to take an ordinary object and recreate it as an unpredictable object.  There was so much design surrounding her in Italy, and suddenly, she saw the textures of Pirelli tires as a coffee percolator.  From that moment, Allyson began viewing everyday objects from a different perspective.

Now, she sees the world around her beyond the naked eye. Her work varies. Some images are clean and crisp yet create depth with the ordinary layers of life. Other photos are often quite complex, leaving the guesswork up to the observer. There is an underlying consistency throughout Allyson’s work that evokes light, texture, color, and movement, connecting the past with the present.

Expressing herself through photography, she has been allowed to combine her passions for the arts, design, and travel.

Allyson works with interior designers and art consultants from the United States. Her work can be found in local home furnishing stores in NY, CT, NJ, and FL. She has also exhibited at the Architectural Digest Design Show in NYC, Art Basel, Miami, and Art Market Hamptons, among other art shows.

From the Artist

From a young age, I have always had a love for texture and color. My specialized studies were textiles, merchandising and design at the University of Rhode Island and interior design at The Studio Arts Center International in Florence, Italy. While studying in Italy i worked on a project designing a print of a coffee percolator using the texture from Pirelli tires. It was from that moment that I began viewing everyday life from a different perspective.

Light and movement, along with texture, is what I see behind the lens. My Ability to see ordinary objects differently is what makes my work personal. The Blur and splat series project, my love for color, and often transform life into a painting.

Typically shot with the macro lens, my Pure Series brings texture to the surface. While my Urban Nature series ignites daily day to day life - The Glow Series brings me back to my roots and portrays my love of design and light.

Growing up in the suburbs of New York, I had the city at my fingertips. The fast action and energy of metropolitan cities remain my favorite subject.

Expressing myself through my photography has provided me with the opportunity to combine all of my passions for the arts, design, and travel. I currently live in Fairfield County, Connecticut, with My husband, David, two children Carly and Max, and our dog, Ella.
