Inset Mounts

An Inset backing refers to a mounting option used for dye sublimation aluminum prints, where a frame is attached to the back of the aluminum print. The inset backing or “frameless” mount is usually made of aluminum and is designed to be hidden from view when the artwork is displayed. The term "inset" indicates that this backing is recessed or sits inside the edges of the print, so it's not visible when looking at the print from the front or sides. This approach ensures that the focus remains on the artwork while providing the necessary support and hanging mechanism from behind.

  • Adds strength and rigidity to the print, helping to prevent warping or bending over time. Aluminum prints are durable and resistant to elements, but larger prints can still benefit from the additional support that an inset backing provides.

  • The aluminum inset backing includes an integrated track system that allows cleats, screws, or hangers to hang from.

  • This creates a “frameless” floating effect as the print does not lie flat against the wall but hovers slightly off it. This makes hanging easier and adds a more professional or polished look to the artwork's display.
